The Kennedy family tree is extensive, complex, and powerful. The first generation of 'celebrity' Kennedys was that of John F. Kennedy and his eight siblings, which included his brothers Robert and Ted who joined him in politics, and his sisters, Kathleen, Jean, and Rosemary. John F. Kennedy was first elected to the US House of Representatives in 1947, and since then there hasn’t been more than a two-year period where a Kennedy wasn't holding office. The Kennedys are leaders, politicians, ambassadors, captains of industry, philanthropists, and environmental activists. At the same time, they’re seen as reckless philanderers, drug abusers, scandal-mongers, and, perhaps, the victims of a curse. Click through the following gallery to see why the Kennedys have such a complicated reputation and why many believe them to be cursed.

The Royal Family: Get to Know the Next Generation

The British royal family just keeps growing — and with each new arrival, Queen Elizabeth II’s legacy continues. The late monarch welcomed eight grandchildren before her death at age 96 in September 2022. While many royal fans know that generation, which includes Prince William and Prince Harry, it’s the queen’s great-grandchildren that still have Us oohing and awing today. Elizabeth’s first great-grandchild, Savannah Anne Kathleen, was born in December 2010 to her daughter Anne, Princess Royal’s son, Peter Phillips, and his now-ex wife, Autumn. The eldest of the royal family’s youngest generation became a big sister in March 2012 when Isla Elizabeth joined the family. Then came Prince George in July 2013! The firstborn son of William and his wife, Princess Kate, had the entire world wrapped around his finger from the moment he arrived. At the time, the queen’s first great-grandson, George, became third in line for the throne. (He moved up to second in line when his grandfather King Charles III ascended the throne in fall 2022. George acted as one of four Pages of Honor at Charles’ coronation in May 2023). “May he be long-lived, happy, and glorious, and one day reign over us!” the royal crier shouted prior to George’s birth announcement placement outside of Buckingham Palace in July 2013. “God save the Queen!” As the years passed, many new cousins were added to the children’s roster of lifelong friends. Mia, the first child of Zara Tindall (née Phillips) and her husband, Mike Tindall, was born in January 2014. Next came George’s baby sister, Princess Charlotte, in May 2015. Their younger brother, Prince Louis, arrived three years later in April 2018. All three of William and Kate’s kids are in front of Harry when it comes to the monarchy’s royal line to the throne. One month after Louis’ birth, a source told Us Weekly exclusively that Charlotte had a “great bond” with her siblings. In order to view the video, please allow Manage Cookies “She is really enjoying having a younger brother to play with,” the insider said in May 2018. “She’s taking her big sister duties very seriously. She won’t leave baby Louis’ side.” While the three siblings’ close bond has continued to develop over the years, more relatives have arrived to add some excitement to playdates. Zara and Mike’s second daughter, Lena, was born two months after Louis in June 2018. William and Kate’s children got their very own first cousin when Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, welcomed their son, Archie, in May 2019. Three more babies were added to the family in quick succession in 2021. Princess Eugenie’s first child, son August, arrived in February 2021, followed by Zara and Mike’s son, Lucas, who made his debut that May. One month later, Harry and Meghan’s daughter, Lilbet “Lili” Diana, was born in June 2021. While her first name honors her great-grandmother Elizabeth, her middle name (like her cousin Charlotte Elizabeth Diana) is a tribute to Harry and William’s late mother, Princess Diana. Prince Andrew and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson’s eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice, joined the royal parents club in September 2021 with the birth of her first child, daughter Sienna. Absurd dating rules from the '30s, '40s, and '50s

Dating in the modern age is a minefield, especially in the digital era with apps, texting, and entirely new codes of technological behavior in the mix. There are a lot of things to think about—you have to pick the right platforms, figure out how to properly construct your profile to attract the right kind of people, and not fall for any false advertisements. You also have to navigate texting (how soon is too soon to reply?), cope with the inevitability of being ghosted, and deal with a lot of things that are separate from actually meeting someone. Because of all these new complications, we seem to have a romanticized idea of dating in the past. In our collective imagination, romance "back then" was filled with meet-cutes, chivalry was alive and well, and there was an added air of mystery because you couldn't stalk a person's entire digital history online. Plus, you could lie about your age! But in all seriousness, dating in the 21st century is nothing compared to the strict social codes permeating the first half of the 20th century. Magazine columns and entire books were dedicated to teaching young folks the proper etiquette when it came to courting and being courted. While very detailed and highly regarded at the time, those guides have not aged well in the least. From shockingly sexist gender roles to hilariously ridiculous things that were considered in "bad taste," nearly every single one of these rules should be broken in today's age. You may be surprised at how far we've come since the 1930s, '40s, and even '50s, though it's equally surprising just how many people relied upon these guides to determine another person's character. Check out this gallery to see the most bizarre etiquette rules from not-long-ago-enough, and revel in the dating freedom we have today.

Amber Tamblyn, David Cross share how couples therapy helped both on- and off-screen

Many people enter the world of romance under the misconception that relationships are easy. Sure the first couple years might fly by, but as humans naturally evolve alongside one another, there's bound to be some growing pains. There's also the misconception that we all innately know how to be a good partner, even though we usually only learn by trial and error. Amber Tamblyn and David Cross are very candid about the key to their long-lasting romance, and it's all about putting in work. In a conversation surrounding their new film 'You Hurt My Feelings,' which follows a couple in therapy, the off-screen couple spoke about how they keep their 15-year relationship healthy. "David and I have been in couples therapy before," Tamblyn said, explaining how she relates to the characters. "I don't know any relationship that has lasted past 10 years that hasn't [been in couples therapy]," she added. "And if it has, then something's wrong with those people if they haven't done couples therapy at some point." Cross shared the advice he'd give to their characters: "You've got to work on it. ... I think [our characters were like,] 'Somebody else will fix it.' And they don't seem like they really wanted to do the real work that has to be done. And that's just being honest. And I mean, literally, the only piece of advice I would give is just be honest with yourself and with each other." In recent years, the idea of therapy has become less taboo, as many realize there's no shame in working through your problems with the help of a qualified professional. For some celebrity couples, it has made a world of difference. Click through to see which stars swear by relationship counseling.
